Iakovidou I., Nikolopoulou S., Tzaida O., Theologi V.
Pathology Department Gen. Hospital "Metaxas"

Monocytoid-B-cell lymphoma is a recently described low grade lymphoma, with possibility to transformation to a high grade malignant neoplasm. We present the morphological, immunohistochemical, genetic and clinical characteritics and we discuss the problems regarding differential diagnosis. The last five years, we studied eight cases in our laboratory of Metaxa's Memorial hospital (five men and three women) with nodal and extranodal locations of the disease (stomach, salivary gland, spleen, central nervous system). They were all treated by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Three of them died of disease, one of them relapsed and four are in partial remission.

Key words: B-monocytoid cells, B-monocytoid lymphoma, marginal zone.
