Differential diagnosis of recently discribed epithelial tumors of the ovary
Ì. Êalpaktsidou-Vakiani
B' Obstetric kai Gynaecologic Clinic, Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, "Ippokratio" General Hospital Thessaloniki

The evaluation of the biological behavior of the epithelial-stromal tumours of the ovary is based on the histopathlogical classification of these tumours, and the diagnostic terms we use have a direct bearing on clinical management. If the histopathological chararacteristics of a tumour are not consistent with the traditional classification criteria, then the evaluation of the malignant potential of the tumour is uncertain. This is especially true for these cases where there is no long term follow-up and where there aren’t many case studies. We review five epithelial-stromal tumours of the ovary as they are described in the international bibliography. These tumours have been described over the last five or ten years and their histopathological characteristics do not follow the caracteristics mentioned in the classification system of ovarian tumours by the World Health Organization.
