Atypical vascular lesions (AVLs), first described by Rosen and
Fineberg in 1994, arise as solitary or multiple papules in the
mammary or chest wall skin within the irradiated field, several
years after radiotherapy. Histologically, they mimic low grade
angiosarcoma, but they show benign biologic behavior. Two cases
of AVLs are presented because of their rarity. The special features
of these lesions are useful for their differentiation from low
grade angiosarcoma.
Key words: Atypical vascular lesions, breast, radiotherapy.
