Fibroepithelial polyps of the lower urinary tract are rare. They predominantly develop in childhood and neonates, have been considered to be congenital and associated with urogenital malformations. Although they can develop after birth and show clinical symptoms in adolescense or adulthood, some of these can be misdiagnosed as urothelial neoplasms or reactive conditions. They have a marked male predominance. The etiology of fibroepithelial polyp is controversial. Their clinical manifestations and the endoscopical features are these of a malignacy and the correct diagnosis can be made only after the histological examination. Recognition of the precise histologic features of fibroepithelial polyp can facilitate its correct diagnosis. The treatment is TUR, after which the lesion does not usually recur. Uncommonly, it can exhibit progression to subsequent tumors. We report a rare case of fibroepithelial polyp of the urinary bladder in a 5 9-year-old woman. The architectural patterns of fibroepithelial polyps and their differential diagnosis are discussed in parallel with a short review of the literature.
