Message from the organizers

It is our great pleasure to announce the Second International Conference on ''ADULT CONSEQUENCES OF CHILDHOOD ENDOCRINE DISEASES'', which will take place in Athens on May 6-8 2004.

It is well known that many of the endocrine and metabolic diseases in childhood are of genetic origin, are not curable, and their treatment extends into adult life. Many are accompanied by growth problems. A crucial point is when patients transfer from the pediatric endocrinologist to the care of adult endocrinologists. This transition is often traumatic for the patient, the reason being difference in approach of the new physician resulting from other training, experience and philosophy.

The organizers of this meeting have the firm belief that an encounter between the two medical specialties, will lead to a better understanding, more collaboration and better therapy of endocrine diseases both in the early and later periods of life.

Due to time restrictions 5 main topics have been chosen for this meeting.

The speakers are experts on the field, from many parts of the world. To make the meeting more interesting a poster session has been included in the program.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Athens on May 2004.

The organizers

Gerasimos E. Krassas           Zvi Laron
