The Hellenic Division of the IAP was established in 1989. The founding members were 55, all pathologists, and the first President elected was Dr. O. Th. Anastassiades. Since then, the division confirmed to grow and currently has 103 active members.
The Hellenic Division of the IAP has several scientific activities. Four scientific sections (one full day and three evenings), are organized on an annual basis. They include lectures and slide seminars on current topics in Pathology. An international recognized pathologist often participates as invited speaker. In addition, the division collaborates with the Hellenic Society of Pathology, which is over 30 years old and has a membership of approximately 340 pathologists.
Both societies organize National Scientific Meeting and Congresses in collaboration with other Societies and plan the educational program which covers the requirements of the continuous education of pathologists.
