The tubular type of appendiceal carcinoid is a neoplasm of young adults that has very good prognosis. The differential diagnosis includes primary and secondary adenocarcinomas of the appendix. Two cases of tubular carcinoid found incidentally in appendectomy specimens in two women patients, aged 25 and 30 years old, are described. In the first case the tumor was small (0,5 cm) and did not penetrate the wall of the appendix. In the second case the tumor infiltrated diffusely 2 cm of the length of the wall of the appendix as well as the mesoappendix. In this case the appendectomy was followed by right hemicolectomy. Although the tubular type of carcinoid and the goblet cell type have been classified together as "adenocarcinoids" by some authors, the distinction between the two is necessary because of their different prognosis.

Key words: Tubular carcinoid, appendix, adenocarcinoid.
