Renal cell carcinomas with rhabdoid features in adults are rare, while the synchronous development of a second carcinoma in the same kidney has not been reported in the reviewed literature. We present a case of a 58-year-old man, who was admitted to the Urologic Department of the General Hospital of Athens "Laiko" for evaluation of a kidney mass, which was found incidentally on ultrasound examination. Histologic examination of the right nephrectomy specimen disclosed a conventional renal cell carcinoma with rhabdoid features, in which the rhabdoid element was the main component of the tumor, while a papillary renal cell carcinoma was present within the same kidney.

Key words: Conventional renal cell carcinoma, rhabdoid tumor, papillary renal cell carcinoma.
