Dental pulpitis and multiple abscesses representing infectious exacerbation of preexisting dental caries and periodontal disease in a patient with acute myelogenous leukemia which was finally diagnosed three weeks after the second tooth extraction A 57 year old man presented with severe pain in his right upper premolar area. An x-ray did not show periapical inflammation and a tooth extraction was performed. The severe pain continued for the next two days and a large necrotic painful ulceration was observed on the hard palate at the site of the anesthetic injection. One week later the patient presented in a fatigued state, with severe pain over his left mandible. Carious molars which were observed in that area were extracted. The severe pain continued, the extraction area became necrotic and the fatigue was exacerbated.
