Paraneoplastic pemphigus

A 60 year-old female in remission of Hodgkin’s lymphoma presented with oral pain and dysphagia of several weeks’ duration. Blood tests were within normal limits. Oral examination revealed diffuse erosions and superficial ulcerations all over the oral mucosa. Figure 1 shows erosions on the lower lip and figure 2 shows erosions and superficial ulcerations on the right buccal mucosa. An incisional biopsy, performed on the lower lip, revealed acantholysis and intraepithelial bullous formation (fig. 3).
